It is a visual cue that mani can recognize that point in the world with depth. More dots help mani a lot.
The reliability for viewing your creation over a period depends on lot of factors. mani has a photographic memory. Viewing a creation is less likely when lighting conditions or features of the local environment - have changed over time.
